Our Story
Starting a basketball team wasn’t the plan. After the city league and all-stars were over, Founder and Program Director Steve Cramer was looking for a travel team based in the Myrtle Beach area for his daughter to continue playing. There were opportunities to play for boys teams, programs that were a city or two over, and potential tryouts for teams that were multiple grade levels ahead, but no local program serving younger girls.
So he started a basketball team. Bringing with him decades of experience playing, training, and coaching basketball at the highest levels, Steve gathered a group of girls from the recently finished city league and created Rising Tide Basketball.
What was started as a team in the spring was already evolving by summer. After thoughtful consideration of next steps, we applied and received approval to become a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In the fall, we ran our first off-season training and skills camp, and made the decision to triple our footprint in 2026, offering 5th, 6th, and 7th grade teams.
Now, Rising Tide Basketball Inc. is a 501(c)(3) youth basketball program focused on development both on and off the court. We believe basketball is more than a game, it’s a tool for building character, confidence, and leadership. Our players are taught to be great teammates through encouragement, effort, and unselfishness, qualities that translate beyond the court into school, friendships, and everyday life.
The Tide is Rising.
